Salt Crystals Experiment. 27.10.16

Image
In He Puna Pumanawa we made some salt crystals. First we put boiling water in the measuring cup. Then we put salt into the cup and stirred it up. After that we repeated it until we couldn't stir in any more salt. Then we poured it in to the glass jar and tied a piece of thin black string onto a purple ice-block stick and put it in a jar.The water turned light blue.Last we chopped a piece of paper and put on the window sill. Now we have to wait until it grows.

Cross Country Goal

Image
My Goal My goal for next week is to never stop, don't talk to a person and run at the right pace. Success Criteria  I will do this by getting to finish line at the right pace. 2.9.16 I didn't reach my goal because I stopped and didn't stay at the same pace. I was on" I'll try to do it," now I am on "Yes,I did it." Next time I do cross country I will run at the same pace.

3D And 2D Shapes

Image
In He Puna Pumanawa we've been learning about 2D and 3D shapes. 3D shapes has length, depth and width. 2D only has length and width. A square has 4 corners and a cube has 8 corners. A square has 2 faces and a cube  has 6 faces. A square also has 4 sides and a cube has 12 edges. Long ago I noticed that a sphere has no corners,no sides and a sphere only has one face around it. Also I noticed that a cylinder has two faces and no corners.

In The Puna

Image
Ages ago at school everyone in He Puna Pumanawa, but not the teachers, made self portraits of ourselves chilling out in the Puna. We chose slurping a freezing drink on a hot day, eating an ice-cream,wearing a hat, holding a umbrella and wearing glasses.I chose holding a umbrella, wearing glasses and having a drink of a smoothie.

My Maunga

Image
In He Puna Pumanawa we have been making a maunga. We used a sketch pencil to draw our mountain. After that we used coloring pencils to color the patterns. My favorite pattern is the symmetry under the lips. Then we got our black vivid and drew over the pencil marking. For the background I used black for the sky and blue for the moon. . After that we put glue on the place that we wanted snow to be. Then we started to sprinkle washing powder from Mrs Lediard's house all over the glue. After that we walked a little bit slow, like a turtle, to the sink to shake it off.You could also add dye to your maunga or coloring pencils to cover all of the white space. The colour of the dyes are purple, green,g reen leaf and blue. You can see that I've used blue dye on my maunga and that I've used washing powder. Then poof! My maunga is finished.

My Thinking

Image
My name is Manaia. In Room 7 we have been doing inquiry. Mrs Lediard took a photo of us by ourself. She shared it with the whole class. We went into our drive and to find it. When we found it we pasted it in google drawings. After that we had to put in our background. Then we went on to search and we were searching thinking stuff, like question marks or someone thinking. After we finished putting in images of thinking we had to save it. Then we went into pixlr and pasted it onto pixlr. I learned how to paste from Lucas. I also learned how to get my photo into pixlr. My Reflection

8.6.16 Last term we learnt about the brain. There are 3 main parts, the cerebellum, the cerebrum and the medulla. The brain’s colour is pinky beige. The brain stops growing at at age 20. In our brain there is about 100000000 neurons inside. Our brain is made out of fat and neurons.

Inquiry-The Brain

What have I learned about the brain? Your brain makes new pathways when you learn things in your neurons. There are three important parts called the cerebellum, cerebrum and the brain stem. The brain is mainly the boss because it tells you what to do. When you're about to move you send the brain messages. So What Now? I will still learn to make my neurons bigger. I will keep learning from the cerebellum or the cerebrum and think about all of my questions. I will challenge the hard bits to make my brain grow long.
